Mrs. Helen Edith Perry, 93, died peacefully Wednesday, July 13th at St. Joseph’s hospital in Savannah, GA.

She was born August 5, 1928, in Union, SC to the late Walter Harris and Madge Woods Harris Lackey. In addition to her parents, Helen was also preceded in death by her husband, Lewis L. Perry and her daughter, Phyllis Lynn Wilkes.   

She is survived by her children, Elizabeth Poole of Augusta; Phillip (Gayle) Perry of Hoschton, Georgia; and Eddie Perry of Cleveland, Georgia. She was also survived by two special grandchildren, Laura Smiley and Glynn Wilkes, who helped care for her, especially during her days in the CCU unit at St. Joseph’s Hospital.

Earning a secretarial science degree while attending college, Helen worked with various Doctor’s Offices until she retired at age 70. Helen loved her family and was most proud of her 11 Grandchildren, 20 Great-Grandchildren and 7 Great-Great Grandchildren. Her friends and family could always find Helen in the kitchen showing her love through making cakes, pies and wonderful family meals.
